Introducing Gallifrey Geek’s World -Getting My First Blog Started (Again)

Okay, so truth be told, this is actually not my first blog, well actually that’s not true either, this is my first blog. Confused? Apparently so am I. So how should I begin this, at the beginning I suppose. Once upon a time, there was a fair maiden who wanted to share her innermost thoughts with the world…

Really? I think that’s what Twitter is for now, right?

In reality, I started my first WordPress blog back in 2010, it was called “chickwitbrains” and I can’t recall if I ever even posted more than an about me section. My recollection of blogs back then is that they were just on the cusps of becoming the technological machine of choice to connect with the world around us. Needless to say, amidst the distractions of life, my tiny little blog was abandoned.

The following year I was introduced to Etsy, which is basically an online arts & craft fair. Etsy reignited my dreams of becoming a professional crafter. Cue day dreams of traveling cross country in a cute vintage camper, selling handmade goods at local craft fairs. Of course I still have those day dreams, but the reality of life is not quite the same. Anyway, in my pursuit of potentially building this business, I created an Etsy shop and, in 2013, purchased a domain name to match: CraftyGeekBoutique.com.

While I never did get my Etsy shop up & running (work, school, back injury, wedding, move out of state, buy a house, move again, etc.), I did have some very irregular and sporadic posts on the blog. In my mind I needed to keep with the theme of arts & crafts, so most of what I posted was about cross stitch projects, ideas from Pinterest, and a few patterns I designed. The problem was I never could get in a regular routine of writing posts. My theory on this is that I had built a box in my head that said all my posts needed to fall within a certain criteria. Unfortunately, that kept me from writing about my other interests and generally just made me frustrated with my blog. Ultimately, I have decided to abandon CraftyGeekBoutique.com when it is due for renewal.

This brings us to today and my newly re-branded Gallifrey Geek Blog. This is actually my original “chickwitbrains” WordPress blog, just with a facelift and some setting changes. It was the desire to have an outlet for my thoughts and ramblings regarding all my interests that led me to resurrect this blog under my self imposed identity as Gallifrey Geek. (You can also find me on Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram as GallifreyGeek). If you want to learn about why I identify myself as GallifreyGeek check out the About Me section. There you will also find the types of blog posts you can expect however, I am not building a box here. I will sometimes post random things such as, my thoughts, videos I like,  maybe a quote or Bible verse I’ve found meaningful. This blog is my outlet and I plan on using that outlet regularly.

Thanks for reading and as a gift for coming this far, I will share my philosophy on surviving this world:

“Do what I do. Hold tight and pretend it’s a plan!”  -Doctor Who, Series 7, Christmas Special
